Iβve always been fascinated by the human experience of transformation, not the before + after photo snippet, Iβm talking about the deep tectonic plate shifts that crack us open. The moments that swallow us whole as we dissolve into its force. On the journey to reclaiming ourselves piece by piece, we get to choose what stays, and what goes.
Along my path, Iβve chosen to reclaim big and little parts of myself to find my truest way in the world. Each of those experiences has left an imprint on my body, and Iβd venture to guess, yours tooβ¦
Iβve lived a few variations of this human experience starting as a television producer in NYC and working for over a decade in the industry. Life was big, and the work rigor and my workaholic tendencies affected my health. At 28, after multiple fibroid surgeries, I was advised to have a hysterectomy. Instead, I sought out alternative methods and found healing through Acupuncture and ancestral eating. I have two daughters because I didnβt listen to that antiquated medical advice. My wounded healer journey began with that one self inquiry.
The alignment of my profound experience of Chinese Medicine and becoming a caregiver for a dying family member led me to San Francisco where I studied at The American College for Traditional Chinese Medicine in California. After my Aunt died, I moved to Santa Cruz to study at Five Branches University so I could specialize in their Five Elements program. Chinese medical schooling includes theoretical courses, clinical training, western medicine diagnostic classes, martial arts, medicinal herbs, and so much more. Throughout my Chinese Medicine training I studied Shiatsu massage and became a teaching assistant to my bodywork professor, BJ Green.
In 2014, I opened my private massage practice on Valencia St in San Francisco while working as a Massage Therapist at Refuge Spa in Carmel. Years later, after journeying through three pregnancies and two births, life moved miraculously, and I opened a vegan cafe in Mill Valley, CA. Our sister-owned cafe featured anti-inflammatory foods without gluten, dairy, or refined sugars, mostly plants.
My passion for wellness, community health, and nurturing continued as we struggled through the pandemic and the northern California wildfires of 2020. With deep heartache, we decided to close our new business. When it felt like everything had fallen apart, I heard a voice deep within, whispering me back to the path of wellness.
Through the Kresser Institute, I became a Functional Health Coach. This intensive program brought me back to myself. It stirred my dedication to health advocacy and brought me back to Bodywork. Through Bodywork, Five Element Chinese Medicine, and Functional Medicine I navigate a pathway for clients that focuses on making choices to create more FREEDOM.
My two-hour bodywork sessions are containers that allow for transformation β you bring what needs to be processed. We sort it and begin to release what is no longer serving you. Sometimes your body whispers these messages to you and other times it roars.
